Congratulations, Andrew Wood (SRS '15)! Andrew is graduating from The Heights School and in the fall will be attending—and playing soccer for—The Catholic University of America, where he has been accepted to The Busch School of Business.

Mom Giovanna shares the thrill of Andy helping The Heights win the WCAC soccer championship. "He ended the season in such a high note!" she writes and then goes on to describe an amazing community outreach project organized by Andy and a Bethesda Soccer Club teammate, Bennett.

Last fall, the two delivered soccer equipment to underprivileged children in a small rural community north of Quito, Ecuador. They collected outgrown cleats, shin guards, uniforms, soccer bags, T-shirts, and shorts, and they trained with the players to help them with their skills. "This was an extraordinary opportunity for Andy and Bennett to contribute to those less fortunate and to grow in service of others," Giovanna writes. The two boys have committed to continue their mission by co-founding a nonprofit called Gear4Good "to create a sustainable footing, optimize their efforts, and raise donations more efficiently."
