It’s hard to believe, but parents used to camp overnight to get coveted spots for their little ones at St. Raphael Nursery School! “Back in the day,” people slept in their cars, the Youth Center, or the Trumpet Room—and some even rented RVs (hello, Rose family!). The practice ended after SRNS transitioned to online enrollment in 2010. Enjoy this FOX5 DC News report from 2007 about the camping-out phenomenon, shared with us by Michelle Aldridge, one of the parents interviewed in the piece.
The SRNS 50th celebration is June 1! Visit the anniversary webpage for details and to RSVP. Walk down Memory Lane with us by visiting the ongoing photo gallery.
